Every year I make a youtube Christmas music playlist when I can no longer stand the radio/Pandora’s choices.

In past years I’ve included “Carol of the Bells” by Piano Guys which is absolutely amazing. But this year, after stumbling across a Gentri version of “Oh Holy Night” posted by a friend on facebook, I’ve jumped deep into the musical ocean that is Mormon Christmas Music. It’s just…so….fresh-faced and wholesome and musically compelling. There’s a couple of Pentatonix (“God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen” etc) songs on my list, and this absolutely diva-riffic “Little Drummer Boy” with Idina Menzel and Jennifer Nettles, and for my youngest daughter who adores Lin-Manuel Miranda and Leslie, Odom Jr “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas“…but the rest is all Mormon:

The Prayer— David Archuleta and Nathan Pacheco

What Child is This/I Wonder as I Wonder— Gentri

Oh Come, Oh Come Emmanuel— BYU Vocal Point

Oh Holy Night— Jordan Smith & Mormon Tabernacle Choir/Mack Wilberg
