I have two suggestions for cancer survivors, people who love cancer survivors, or people who don’t want to get cancer.  (think I covered enough people here?)

  1. Eat more broccoli. (cruciferous veggies like broccoli, cauliflower, brussel sprouts). There’s a compound (phytochemical) called sulphoraphane that not only inhibits cancerous growth, but, will actually help taxane chemotherapies kills cancerous cells. This is cool. When you’re undergoing chemotherapy, you want to do like everything possible to kills those bad boy cancer cells, when all you can do is lie around and puke, basically. Eating was the one way I could feel like I was “helping.” but you’re not supposed to eat anti-oxidants like blueberries because along with protecting the good cells, you’ll protect the cancer cells as well. Glad to know I can still “help”  by eating broccoli.
  2. Test “resist” to 50409 and enjoy letting a text robot turn your text into an automatic letter fax to your Senator and Representative in Congress. So I’m not going to tell you what to say, and neither will the text robot. It’s up to you. But if you’re paying attention to recent developments in repealing the ACA (they kept the no refusal of coverage for prior conditions, yay, but now are going to leave 20,000 Minnesotans and millions of American without insurance coverage…not yay) and also the proposed budget right now creates a “seismic disruption” in the national institute of health’s budget for funding…..cancer research amongst other things.  (Not yay).  Let your Congress know that keeping Americans healthy is a priority!

Can we stop funding trips to Mar-a-lago and keep that money for the NIH instead?
